Lives In: Scarsdale, NY
About Me:I am mom to 2 boys, Leo and Alexander. My training was in interiors but the majority of my career was spent in the fashion industry designing handbags and accessories for Banana Republic and Michael Kors. Like many new moms I found myself wanting more balance between work and family however it was important to me to stay engaged in design and I have always been inspired to create.
While decorating Leo's nursery I found a lack of cute, affordable organic cotton children's linens. The items on the market at that time were either very expensive or had an 'eco' look to them, lacking style and made in un-dyed cotton. Not wanting to sacrifice good design for safety I launched Honeyami leveraging my interiors training with my fashion house experience.
Honeyami's designs are ethically produced in fair-trade factories in an environmentally sound way. And of course the blankets and sheets are safe for baby made in organic cotton, using non-toxic and low-impact dyes in Portugal and Peru. Now sold exclusively through my online shop, I can offer Honeyami's premium product for less making organic cotton accessible to more families.
On a personal level it is interesting to see how my varied career and life experiences come together to create my present. Both my interiors and fashion background have been key in the development of Honeyami.

Mama Likes :
Creating our home. We bought our family home in the suburbs 3 years ago and have been slowly renovating it. Next up is our kitchen. Also, I am a serial furniture re-arranger and love to try out different layouts to change the dynamic in our space.
Arts and crafts with my boys. For my 4 year olds birthday we made superhero capes and each party guest got to customize their own to take home. Some years I make their Halloween costumes. We've painted seashells, done photo collages and made seasonal decorations. My next planned project is a weaving one I saw on another mama's instagram feed.
Exercise - it makes me a better, more sane mama and sets a good example for my boys to live a fit life. My favorites are barre and zumba.
Mama Inspiration :
The women in my family - they range from full-time working mom to stay-at-home mom to everything in between. They each have their own unique challenges and watching them navigate them makes me proud and helps me to find my own way too.
I love the small business community - especially mom-preneurs. It is inspiring to see the way women strike a balance between motherhood, career and achieving personal goals.

What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
1. I grew up in London but have no British accent and have dual American/British citizenship.
2. I practiced ballet for 16 years and my entire childhood wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up.
3. My husband is Vietnamese and I am Caucasian from Russian and Greek heritage. Having more than one ethnicity has added rich layers to our boys lives and given them a unique view of the world.
