About Me: Born and raised in NYC on the upper east side and currently living in the West Village with my daughter, Scarlett James, who is 21 months old, and my husband Todd. I was a senior fashion editor at Cosmopolitan for about 7 1/2 years where I styled and produced shoots and traveled around the world. I started my company, LoveShackFancy, which is like another baby to me, about 2 years ago. It launched in stores the same month my daughter was born, June 2013. It’s been a whirlwind but a very fun and exciting one. I’m constantly inspired by my travels and my muse – my daughter Scarlett. I love traveling, entertaining, dancing, shopping, getting inspired by friends and places I visit and I always like to surround myself with beautiful things. I'm quite a romantic, and have a very feminine aesthetic. I’m in love with all Victorian white clothing, delicious white wine and rose, and adorable little girls. My mother is my best friend in the world and I hope to continue the relationship I have with her, with my daughter Scarlett.
How did you start LSF: I started LSF when I designed my bridesmaids dresses for my wedding in June 2010. We had a beautiful tented wedding in the backyard at my parents house in Bridgehampton - and for me it was like producing the biggest photo shoot of my life. It was an editorial dream. I spent a long time searching for the perfect bridesmaids dresses and couldn't find anything on the market so my mother and I decided to design them. Ethereal and flowy silk chiffon dresses in muted colors that would blend perfectly with the surrounding apple orchards and the romantic environment. I was still at Cosmopolitan at this time – and the bridesmaids dresses had such an incredible response, so I started making dresses for friends and for shoots. It was a hobby that organically became a business. I decided to leave Cosmopolitan in July 2012 and spend more time actually trying to put the company together. I found a sales showroom in NYC and LA and I launched in June for the summer 2013 collection – In stores like Calypso and Bergdorf Goodman and with a collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow for GOOP. To me LoveShackFancy is a way to express my aesthetic -by creating a lifestyle of beautiful and effortless pieces that transcend seasons and trends.
I'm Good at: I’m great at traveling. Producing anything from a photo shoot to a dinner party. Creating anything romantic and feminine. Dancing, eating and drinking. Being a great mom, wife and friend. Styling and capturing the beautiful moments in life.
Interested in: Starting loveshackgirls – which will be a little capsule collection. I'm launching before summer with a mom of a very close friend of Scarlett's. We are launching Romy and The Bunnies x LoveShackFancy girls which will be a cute collection of hand dyed and limited edition prints in about 7 or 8 styles. We are also working on an adorable bridesmaid offering as well as building our bridesmaids division.
Interested in: Collaborating with friends on loveshackgirls – bringing together inspiring friends and working on collaborations for beautiful pieces. Trying to tap into the mommy and me market that we feel is missing.
Mama Likes : Traveling, entertaining, spending time with family and friends, our house in Sagaponack, the beach, the sun, South of France, long rose lunches, dancing under the moonlight, long weekends with my daughter and husband, and exploring the world with Scarlett and Todd (my little family of 3). We are having the most incredible time traveling and constantly being inspired by Scarlett every day of our lives. She is my everything.
Mama Inspiration: My Mother, Jane Birkin, my close mama friends and all the beautiful mamas I follow through social media - whose beautiful aesthetics are such an inspiration everyday. Style Inspired by Small Folk is one of the best sayings I've heard in a while. Its how I live my life everyday – because in my personal and professional life I'm constantly inspired by Scarlett every second of the way.
