Lives In: Scottsdale, AZ
About Me: I am a proud mama of two beautiful babes (with one more on the way!) and lover to my best friend and husband. I love all things to do with design, fashion, natural parenting, and generally being creative. I was working full time in the high fashion bridal and ready-to-wear world of the incredibly talented designer Monique Lhuillier until late 2014, when my husband got a job offer in the Phoenix area and we decided as a family to make the move. Although I loved my career in fashion fiercely, I now get to pursue the joy of my children and stay home with them full time.
Motherhood changed my life in every way and beyond what I ever imagined. Among my closest friends, I was one of the first to have a baby. Although joyous and endlessly fulfilling, I found it overwhelming and isolating at times. Navigating that first year after my son was born was especially challenging for me. This space is where I share some tidbits about what I have learned so far, as well as my current struggles in parenting, in hopes I can help some other mothers out along the way.
At the same time I treasure those little beings of mine and each minute I get to spend with them, I also crave a creative work environment where I can devote my years in the fashion and design world, as well as my eye for styling, productively. Therefore, I am currently creating a new career for myself that includes the more fun projects you see on this blog as well as styling and designing anything and everything I can get my hands on including my own babes, families for photo sessions, small shops for brand shoots, parties, and commercial photoshoots.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I am currently open to all types of styling opportunities (as mentioned above) including fashion styling for families, event styling for parties, and brand styling, which I hope to get more into as I build my portfolio!
Interested In: I love collaborating with brands (targeted at natural living, parenting, motherhood, etc.) and other mama bloggers/online resources (like yours, of course)! And as mentioned above, I am just starting my styling business.
Mama Likes: I love the beach, which is ironic since we didn’t make it there much when we lived in LA, but now that the hot AZ summer is here, I miss it so much! I also love to arrange flowers and someday when we have a house with a yard, I want to grow my own vegetables and flowers in our garden. I used to do a lot of running and yoga, but those passions have been on the gradual decline since having these kiddos, so I hope to get back into them again after this (last) pregnancy. And I love spending time with my family! We love to get outside and picnic in the park or go for a hike, basically anything where we can all be together outside is a win for us.
Mama Inspiration: I love Taylor Sterling (of glitterguide.com). I just started following her on Instagram last year and her daughter and mine are about the same age, so I feel like I can relate to her a lot. I am inspired by how she started her own website/brand and continues to grow her business through her transition into motherhood. Also James Kicinski-McCoy (of bleubirdblog.com) and Jen Gotch (of shopbando.com).
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: Since my second pregnancy, I fell in love with Hatch Collection. I don’t own many of their pieces, but I love the concept of pregnancy to nursing and beyond. Traditional maternity clothes can be so blah. When not pregnant, I love Jen’s Pirate Booty, Show Me Your Mumu, and anything from Free People, Planet Blue, or Intermix (when I do spend on myself, which is rare these days!). I am also obsessed with dressing and styling my kiddos and have worked and/or would love to work with several smaller handmade shops such as Briar Handmade, Mabo Kids, and Zuzii Footwear, just to name a few.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.” but also “If you dream big enough, anything can come true. Just kidding, get back to work.” Also, I can’t remember exactly how she said it, but Oprah taught me if you put your intentions out to the universe, they will come back to you in maybe not the way you expected, but in just the way you needed. I definitely try to live by that always and set positive intentions for the direction I want my life to go.
