About Me: ! I was tired of being an associate at a large law firm. I wanted to expend my positive energy to work with creative people and small businesses (especially women-owned businesses). I am an immigration lawyer and one of the things I do with passion is help creative people and business owners obtain visas based on their talent and portfolio. I love what I do and I love working with other hard-working, creative, passionate people! Most importantly, I love having my own practice because I can now make decisions about my schedule and day-to-day life and not sacrifice precious time with my daughter. I want to share my story because I know too many women who work in law or finance and find the balance so very hard. I wanted to share that it is not impossible to work in the field of law and be satisfied with your work and your family life. Its not easy or perfect being an entrepreneur, but I am doing my best to make it work.
What are your skills?: Administrative, Writing, Other: please describe
Other skills: I am an immigration attorney and I specialist in extraordinary ability visas for artists and other creative professionals. I meet so many interesting and talented people through my work. Working on these visa petitions entails writing someone's story in a way that really makes it apparent how special and extraordinary they are! It can be daunting to be entrusted with someone's future in this way, but it is also motivating. I always wanted to be a writer and while that didn't quite work out, I found another way to channel my way with words to positively impact others' lives.
Interested in: Business, Collaboration, Friendship
Other interests: I do have wanderlust. I love thinking about visiting and living in other countries. Instagram makes it possible to follow creative and inspiring mothers and families around the world. Having grown up outside the U.S., I will always have a special place in my heart for expatriates, third culture kids, and immigrants.. My grandfather migrated 3 times in his life. I love thinking about how big his life was in that way. Yet he was a simple person and always smiling.
Why do you want to be a part of heymama?: I find the community to be inspiring and supportive of women who are entrepreneurs and have the courage to try something for themselves. Its not easy trying to balance a career with raising children, but these women had the courage to try to do it on their own terms. I see myself as part of that group.
What are your career goals?: I want to grow my practice further and to support more women owned businesses and immigrant women who are creative and extraordinary and want to live in the U.S.
Words you live by/quotes you love: "And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Best advice you’ve ever been given?: Don't let the perfect get in the way of the good.
