Lives In: Fort Greene Brooklyn, New York
About Me: I am an entrepreneur, a working mother of the sweetest little 1 year old, Colette, a wife to a Hypebeast, and owner of ROARKE; but not in that order. I studied finance in school and parlayed my degree to fashion by joining the buying office of Bergdorf Goodman. I was there for 5 years until I realized that I actually needed a more creative outlet; it was 2009, and if you remember the economy then, it was not the perfect time to start a business of selling expensive accessories. But I gathered my saving worked my ass off and took a leap of faith. I’ve been running a profitable accessories business, ROARKE, since then.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Accessorizing at any given moment.
Interested In: I am interested in growing my business in a unique and organic way; I would love to collaborate with other young brands and influencers that I meet along the way, from every walk of life.
Mama Likes: I love a good day time concert, flea market scouring, reading the Sunday times with a nice spicy bloody mary in hand.
Mama Inspiration: If you are a mother, that in and of itself is inspiring.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: I love a nice clean, simple, basic style that I can pair with my scarf necklaces. I love Celine but that’s dreaming! In the real world, I love COS, although I’m not going to lie, I’m a little sad they are sold in the states. I used to get their clothes when I went to Paris to visit my grandmother. All of these new direct to consumer brands are amazing: Everlane, AYR, Hatch. I’m taking my company in that direction so any chance to work with them and learn from them is amazing.
Words you live by/quotes you love: The days are long, but the years are short.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: It’s not really advice, but I’m a real true believer that everything happens for a reason.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out:
As a mom: Your baby can sense you. Be calm. And don’t listen to other people’s advice.
As an entrepreneur: Know who you go in to business with, be honest and work hard!
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
I grew up on a horse farm in Virginia. I’m a sneaker freak, thanks to my husband. I’ve never taken one art or design class.
