Lives In: New York, NY
About Me: I’m an entrepreneur, writer, and advocate for girls seeking an education and becoming leaders. After spending 3 years in technology sales and 5 years in pharmaceutical operations and business development, I co-founded Bridge2Act. B2A is a platform connecting digital publishers and nonprofits to allow you to give, the moment you feel compelled. My website, Hitha On The Go, is focused on helping women to pack faster, live better, and to look great while doing it. I’m a proud Leadership Council member at Barnard College’s Athena Center, and love donating my time (and money) to helping cultivate the next generation of women leaders. I’m horrified at the lack of access girls have to education in the developing worlds, and love supporting these organizations to help educate every girl and bring her out of poverty.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Coming up with one-of-a-kind campaigns or marketing ideas, introducing you to the people you need to know, how to pack for any trip in a carry-on suitcase (even with kids!)
Interested In: Collaborations, sponsorship, mentoring new entrepreneurs
Mama Likes: Reading (everything - I don’t discriminate) and cooking are lifelong passions of mine. I’m a knitting enthusiast and a novice calligrapher. We’re lucky to live so close to the Theater District so going to plays and shows is something we do often. And traveling, of course! We can’t wait to show Rho our favorite places in the world
Mama Inspiration: My mother, who started traveling internationally with me when I was only 5 months old! My grandmothers, who raised massive, happy families with a smile. My friends Katherine and JoAnna who answered every frantic text and call with such calm and peace. Amri and Katya for creating such an incredible community of women.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: Brands that combine style with solutions for everyday problems in the fashion, lifestyle, and travel spaces. Tumi, Madewell, Virgin America, Kimpton Hotels, and Equipment would be dream partners of mine.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence” - Vince Lombardi
Best advice you’ve ever been given: My mother continues to remind me to live in the present, which I’m sorely attempting to do. She also reminds me to always be nice. It’s very simple advice, but she lives by these two adages and is the most incredible woman I know. Mama knows best. Fellow entrepreneurs have reminded me that just because I can do everything doesn’t mean I should. Self-care is not selfish — it’s necessary.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: Be kind to yourself. Get comfortable in living in ambiguity, because things will change the moment you feel like you have it figured out. There’s nothing that a glass of wine and a baby wipe can’t fix. Avoid decision fatigue by limiting your options - organize your wardrobe into outfits, have 1-2 options for breakfast in the home, etc. Breathe. It’s all going to be okay.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
1) I trained in classical Indian dance (Bharathanatyam) for most of my childhood, and performed my graduation recital at age 13.
2) I was an extra in the Bollywood movie New York, which was mostly shot in Philadelphia.
3) I can do a scarily accurate monkey impression.
