Lives In: London, UK
About Me: I’m a 29-year-old born and bred Londoner, mum to Jack and a Googler (that’s geek speak for working at Google.)
Mamalina came about very naturally when I fell pregnant with Jack, now 15 months old. My day job at Google is all about branding and social media, so it seemed natural to me to start my own project in some way branding up what has become a passion of mine: motherhood and all the wonders that it entails (with some of the less lovely stuff in between). My background was video so I started on YouTube making videos – I’m a very creative person so the idea of being a one woman production house, filming, editing and producing short films by myself immediately appealed. I have since also started a blog and am now also working on a product coming out further down the line. I also had a baby before any of my friends so creating an online hub for my experiences has unexpectedly provided me with a wonderful network of other mothers going through similar things to me – a network of support I just don’t have in my ‘offline’ friends.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I can write, shoot film, edit film. I have done some presenting too. I know the UK YouTube mother community very well.
Interested In: I’m very interested in collaborations and sponsorships providing it’s with the right people/brands who I authentically connect with.
Mama Likes: I love anything related to the outdoors – so hiking, camping, gardening, wild swimming.
I’m also a keen yogi and try to practice most days. I also love cooking, growing my own vegetables and making my own beauty products.
Mama Inspiration: There are too many awesome mamas on social media to name but my main source of inspiration is my own mother and grandmother. Both are such strong, sensible and beautiful women.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: Anything with a slight eco or outdoorsy stance. I’ve done some work with gNappy(non disposable nappy brand) and am in the process of becoming a brand ambassador for @foxandthetravellinggypsy. A brand like Neals Yard would be awesome – but I am very open to opportunities that come my way.
Words you live by/quotes you love:
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.” - Ghandi
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Judge your success by how happy you are.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: Be yourself 100% - otherwise what’s the point in doing it in the first place? And if that feels limiting in some way, explore areas within you – you never know what’ll come up. (for me, it was making my own beauty products related to motherhood so hand sanitizer, baby wipes etc)
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
