About Me: I’m an event producer, destination wedding planner, author, mother, interior designer, and overall creative entrepreneur. 7 years ago, before launching my company Bash Please with Kelly Harris, I was in the Film Industry.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I'm the best damn event planner you can hire! Overall, our company strives to be innovative, artistic and timeless in our designs. We also keep it paramount that our logistical production is strong where no stone is left unturned. Our events strive to be oriented around feng shui, where the senses are heightened and in balance at the same time. We often repeat a motto around our studio which is, “Everything matters."
Interested In: Collaboration is always fun; and we are constantly thinking of starting new companies--we like to see how far we can take an idea. For example, we think it’s time we design a wedding line for Target or West Elm. Very excited about our collaboration with heymama producing The Great Jane Retreat.
Mama Likes: Road trips, living room dance parties, going to the theatre, hiking in Malibu, art trips to LACMA or the Hammer Museum, escaping to Ojai for the weekend, backyard BBQs, being in nature and feeling like I have some dirt on me by days end… meditation and yoga….. So hard to narrow down my hobbies and interests--I like to maximize my free time with inspiring and relaxing activities.
Mama Inspiration: My friends! Megan Edwards of Charley Star photography, Elizabeth Antonia of The Littlest, Simone LeBlanc of Simone LeBlanc gifts, Margaux Wanger of Max Wanger photography, Jesse Chamberlin (photographer), Alli Webb (owner of Drybar), Lauren Soloff (interior designer), Rachel Craven and Beatrice Valenzuela. Kristen Caissie of Moon Canyon. Hannah Henderson of General Store. You should contact all of them!
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: Helen Levi Ceramics, Simone LeBlanc (we curated a Bride Box for her site), Rachel Craven textiles, Lauren Soloff interiors, Heather Heron designer, Jenni Kayne, Moon Canyon florals, General Store, Christy Dawn, Nickey Kehoe, Lauren Ross, & Ulla Johnson.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life, and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.”
- Georgia O’Keefe
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Stay the course, don’t lose your way, no matter the external influences.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: Keep your intentions clear, your will strong, and your plan simple.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I’m really picky about my steak and bourbon.

Age of Kids: Miles is 6 and our two Golden Doodle pups are less than a year old
About Me: My work life began when I was around 9 years old and had an imaginary thriving business called JB’s Airport Center, which I operated from my garage. Because it meant so much to me at the time, and had a hand in shaping who I am, having my own business or working for myself was a constant nagging goal my entire career. When you are happily working for other companies, it feels like a daunting task to break away from the comforts of the known and jump off into the unknown, with eyes closed, clutching on to both hope and fear.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: As a consultant, I’m hired to help shape companies’ next steps, whether it’s to help ideate projects, shape a new brand’s identity or increase sales and reach. I specialize in fashion, but am currently working on a beauty project, which has become my new obsession. I’d say my greatest strengths are my creativity matched with a business intuition and skillset.
Interested In: I love mentoring others, particularly young women, but also like connecting with people in general. Networking has such a negative connotation, it conjures a slick social climber, but when I started my own business, I quickly learned how important it is to expose yourself to how others think and interpret the future of industries around them (REASON I LOVE THIS SITE AND NETWORK!)
Mama Likes: I love to read, write, and be outside. Our neighbors (in Montclair) say we make hanging out in our front yard cool. Having lived in the city for so long, the novelty of having a front and backyard hasn’t gotten old yet so more times than not, we’re outside sitting on the porch with coffee, wine, or whiffle balls. I also really love to help people. My father was a teacher and I think I’ve inherited that gene so I think it seeps out in other places, like mentoring or helping my nephews with math, or giving advice to people just starting out.
Mama Inspiration: My own mom and sisters, Fiana Keleta VP of Alexander Wang Merchandising and mom to 3 year old Matias. Stacia Thiel, social worker + singer and mom to Ingrid and Harrison.
Words you live by/quotes you love: "Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be a lady. I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there. And I also hope that you will choose to make some of that trouble on behalf of women." – Nora Ephron
I love this quote that Nora Ephron said during her Wellesley commencement speech because I personally hate conformity. I think we have a lot of responsibility today for fighting for women’s rights and the acceptance of diversity. There’s a lot of shit that is being unearthed in America through this political cycle and makes me realize we have to fight harder.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: When you hear NO, you know it’s just the beginning of negotiating.
Worst advice you've ever been given: Can't think of any, but usually anything that starts with "You ought to"... reminds me of Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I’m shy. I love to dance, but have zero rhythm.

Lives In: Los Angeles, CA
Age of Kids: Isla Roux, 2 1/2 yrs.
About Me: I've been in the clothing business for almost a decade with my women's brand Kain Label. After having my daughter, Isla, I wanted to create a kid's line of clothing that reminded me of my childhood and growing up in Los Angeles. There was a children's line in the 80s, based in Los Angeles, called Rainbow Cotton that did all of these funky, colorful batik patterns. They had a little storefront, and they would stack the different colors, styles and sizes on shelves up to the ceiling, and everything could be mixed and matched. There was this feeling of wanting everything, and our mom would let us pick out outfits, and it was always a special, cool thing when we got to go there. I was inspired to re-create that feeling in a modern mix-and-match take that riffs on batik with cheeky hand stamped motifs and artful tie dyes. It was an overwhelming full circle moment, to have my daughter, to remember how important clothes were to me even when I was little - and how that probably led to me becoming a women's designer, and now I could go back to where it all started and name it after her.
Hire Me for/I'm Good at: Tie-dye party!
Interested In: We love doing collaborations and exclusives with other companies! We recently did a collaboration with Valleybrink Road in which she included our Indigo tie-dye swaddles in her gorgeous baby gift boxes. We also did an exclusive baby onesie for the store TenOver6 in Los Angeles.
Mama Likes: I'm very passionate about interior design. I spend way too much time on Pinterest and 1st dibs searching for rugs and mid-century chairs.
I enjoy traveling and discovering new places. Before I had Isla, my family and I did a month long road trip from New York to California. It was the most magical experience and until you do something like that you forget that there is so much to see in the United States.
Also, when I have the time, I enjoy trying new recipes for a small dinner party with friends and family.
Mama Inspiration: I'm always in awe of stay at home moms! Whenever I come home from work and feel like I'm losing my patience with Isla, I always try to remember that there are moms out there who have to try to remain patient all day!
Words you live by/quotes you love: It's simple--trust your instincts!
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Say yes to everything! You never know what will come of it!
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I follow a bunch of wildlife reserves so my Instagram feed is mostly videos/pictures of rescued tigers, lions, and monkeys. I'm mildly obsessed!
I'm a sucker for romantic comedies that take place in New York.
I can read lips.

About Me: Hi! I am French and I am the mother of an adorable boy, Léon. After working as an engineer in Paris, I moved to San Francisco in 2010 and created www.happyfrenchgang.com, a textile company for Home & Kids. All the products are made by hand in San Francisco and dyed in delicate ways to create dreamy tints and tones in delicious sorbet hues. It’s a combination of French vision and California creation.

Interested In: Collaborations: right now I’m looking for collaborations for collections of tie-dye socks, tanks, etc... The truth is there is an infinity of things I would love to develop with Happy French Gang’s style in collaboration with another brand. I also would love to collaborate with an interior designer who works with individual people or hotels & offices.

Mama Likes: Chocolate, traveling, photography, beach, movie, concert, classical dance, family time, champagne, plants, and dinner parties.
Mama Inspiration: There are too many but I would say Vanessa Paradis for her hippie chic style and her sensibility that has inspired me since I was a little girl and my wonder-mother-women friends.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: There are plenty of brands and shops I would love to work with! Just a few: ABC Carpet & Home, Le Bon Marché, Merci, Ace & Jig, Levi’s, Hello!Lucky, Freshly Picked, Neve & Hawk, and many others.

Best advice you’ve ever been given: Whatever your project is, if there is a similar one or not in the world, what will make the difference is how you will manage it.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: Don’t overthink, just do it and work hard.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I love ‘pain au chocolat’ with an excellent hot chocolate for the ‘goûter’. I have a notebook full of crazy ideas for new products or new projects that I will never share! My French accent is really really strong!

About Me: I am a mama (hanging on to her 20’s for dear life) with a 3-year-old daughter and a baby in the form of my start-up. I love my daughter more than anything in the World but I felt I hadn’t reached my true potential and didn’t believe that I should give up just because I was now a Mother. I contemplated a lot of different routes but decided that helping other moms would be awesome, even if it was just something small - the gift of time.
So I created Hello Sitter – a fully vetted on-demand babysitting app. We personally interview all of our sitters and check the multiple references that they have to provide. We perform a background check and CPR train them before they can be activated on the app. Our mission is to allow you the full freedom to be a great parent and your own person at the same time.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At:
I enjoy a good party.
Hire Hello Sitter to care of your little ones.
On a personal level: I would just love to meet like-minded Mamas.
Work-wise: To help moms on day-to-day basis, collaborations and anything else that makes sense for both sides.
Mama Likes: Travelling. Naughty Food. Expensive shoes and handbags (the list of lust is never-ending). My husband, friends, family and daughter - all at once if that were ever possible.
Mama Inspiration :
Wow, there are so many! Any mother that has achieved what I am working towards – the successful career, happy home life and well-rounded child – oh yeah that balancing act.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: I have evolved into a true New Yorker – my favorite color is black, black and black (with maybe some white thrown in). Anything minimal – Helmut Lang, Theory do some great basics, ALC, Tibi and Acne. If I had a limitless budget, then I would buy everything from Saint Laurent and Valentino – their pieces are beautiful!
Words you live by/quotes you love:
If your dreams don’t scare you they’re not big enough
Best advice you’ve ever been given:
In Business: Everyone is faking it until they make it – when I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing I remember that half the time no-one else does either but that hard work and persistence will hopefully pay off!
In Motherhood: You might feel like you’re failing but they love you anyway. Just to learn to give yourself a break, that you love this little person and you are doing your best and yes sometimes you’ll burn the dinner or forget their backpack but hey that’s what unconditional love is for.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: On this journey so far what I’ve learnt is to Work. Work. Work. It will feel like you are getting no-where and then you will have one day where one thing will go right and just for that one moment you think – yes I got this! I won’t promise it will be easy and it will be exhaustive (as everyone tells me too) but remember that one day it will have all been worth it.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
1. I regularly try everything on in my wardrobe – just because
2. I am the most indecisive person
3. I am the (very) shy girl in a room full of people

Lives In:Irvington-on-Hudson, NY (Westchester)
About Me: I grew up in the midwest in a college town called Iowa City. My family is comprised of mostly artists and I had a really adventurous and curious streak in me that lead me to study French and Journalism in college. I lived in Paris and the South of France for several years before coming to NY on my own in 1998. I didn't know a single person but I was determined to make it here. I found a job at Marie Claire as an assistant to the Editor-in-Chief, Glenda Bailey and eventually went on to Glamour to work for the Fashion Director on covers and photoshoots. It was then I realized I could fulfill my dream of being a makeup artist after watching them work many times on set. I worked super hard to build a portfolio and was picked up by an agency and the rest is history! As for work, now being a mama is my first priority but maintaining a career is important to me not only for my own sake but also hers'. I want her to grow up seeing that her mom is well-rounded and has a passion for something else as well. I think being a role model to our children has many faces and this is just one - but an important one. Being a mom is the most challenging and rewarding but we need to strive for balance and keep the world a big place to be in.
Hire Me For: Makeup Artist for 16 years in fashion, celebrity and advertising. I started my own bridal beauty agency called Timeless Glow Bridal in 2009 for hair and makeup.
Interested In: Growing my bridal business - it's perfect as a mom and working on the weekends means my daughter can spend quality time with dad and less with a nanny during the week like when I'm on traditional photoshoots.
Mama Likes: I love to read, cook, do yoga, travel and most of all find fun and educational activities for my daughter and I to get involved in!
Mama Inspiration :
+Athena Calderone - shes so incredibly chic, maintains a stellar career and has a darling little boy
+Michelle Obama - She is a powerful and strong woman in every way and clearly has kept her girls grounded and confident
+Michelle Williams - after the pain of divorce and the death of Heath Ledger she seems to have bounced back and is living a great life in Brooklyn with her little girl.

About Me: I am a born and bred New Yorker. I have become passionate about startups and entrepreneurship ever since I co-founded the ecommerce site Gilt. I am currently Co-Founder and CEO of GLAMSQUAD, the at home beauty services company. Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I love meeting diverse people and I love connecting people together. I never thought of this as a skill, as I build friendships genuinely. I had 16 bridesmaids at my wedding! However, as an entrepreneur, I have learned the importance of building and maintaining relationships. Start ups are hard and the more people who can help you, the greater your chances of success.
Tell us your #startupstory: Well, I wrote a book with Alexis Maybank, my BFF and Gilt Co-Founder, called “By Invitation Only: How We Built Gilt and Changed the Way Millions Shop”. This book tells our story of how we built the company, the ups and the downs!
Interested In: I am currently interested in creating partnerships for GLAMSQUAD that can drive new client acquisition or new revenue opportunities for the company. I also love meeting awesome women and am always game to grab a bite or a drink to share startup stories!
Mama Likes: My kids of course-- playing with them and teaching them things that I enjoy, from sports, to giving back to others, to making friends, to traveling, to having fun, to learning about people and the world we live in.

I’ve grown up in the fashion world spending the majority of my career within the merchandising organization at Saks Fifth Avenue concentrating in Women’s designer RTW. I enjoyed discovering and launching new brands as well as accelerating growth in existing brands. I left about a year ago to join forces with Rent the Runway heading up the Merchandising and Planning teams. It has been so invigorating to work with the brands I love and partner with them to innovate and introduce a new concept that will further develop the fashion landscape.

Interested In: Collaborating with fashion brands/companies on ways to grow their businesses.
Mama Likes: Traveling to new places around the world, interior design, spending time with family and friends.
Mama Inspiration: My mama was so transformational in making me the person I am today. She was widowed with 3 kids when I was six years old, started her own business, is a four-time survivor of cancer, and always made me feel like the most loved girl in the world. Her courage, strength, love and generosity inspire me every day.
Words you live by/quotes you love: Complete happiness is not defined by what you have, but in what you give.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten. You should acknowledge when it is time for change.
Worst advice you’ve ever been given? People don’t have to like you, so long as you do great work. (Strong relationships and collaborating go hand in hand with success.)

I wrote my one woman show over the course of my first 7 years of doing stand up and raising my kids. It’s called “One Funny Mother” and it’s about feeling like you are going crazy after having kids. Hopefully, some moms can relate.
Hire Me For/I’m Good At: hosting, stand up, keynote speaking and laundry folding

Name: Emmy Lou Canedo
Lives In: Vancouver, BC
Kids Birthdays + Names: May 12, Matthias
Birthday: February 9th
About Me: I’m a lifestyle family photographer, and I spend most of my time chasing kids around with a camera or lying down in the sand to get the perfect shot.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: If you want a family session that is actually fun, if you’d like your memories joyfully captured, and if you want me to show your life as it really is - scrunched-up smiles and berry-stained faces and all the imperfections, because imperfect can be so beautiful.
Interested In: Collaboration with other brands, particularly those that love a light-filled, lifestyle approach to photographing commercial work.
Mama Likes: Coffee, reading, cooking, cuddling with my husband watching tv shows and drinking more coffee, being outside in nature and taking our toddler on long explorations at sunset.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” - Philippians 4:8
Best advice you’ve ever been given: I think that would be advice my (very supportive) husband gave me, when I was first starting out on this photography venture, to never make a decision solely for the sake of money. That kept me from focusing my energy on work I didn’t want to do, and instead helped me to spend my time specializing in and creating a niche doing the type of photography that I truly love. I know I would be much further behind on this path I’ve chosen if I’d decided to overload myself with every opportunity, no matter how uninspiring or at odds with my approach, just to make a few extra bucks.
What is your biggest goal for this year? This is tied in with what I’m interested in at the moment: commercial work, particularly with children’s brands. I have recently started doing some lifestyle commercial shoots for different brands I love, and it has been such a wonderful experience that I’ve been hoping to start focusing more on this.

About Me: I’m a new mama, lover of plants and a school psychologist currently working with a large refugee population in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I was the first one out of my friends to have a baby, so naturally I felt a little lonely while I was on maternity leave and decided to direct my energy towards creating something. I started a lifestyle blog called Love & LaRock to document the many facets of motherhood. I blog about motherhood, plants, and love. My husband is a landscape architect and I recently worked under a good friend learning floral design, so needless to say, gardening and anything else having to do with plants are a huge part of my life.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Empowering women, brand campaigns, styling, product review, sponsorships, local business features.
Interested In: I am interested in connecting with companies that have a human interest. I love collaborating with those who do good things for others, the environment, and have an all-around positive vibe.
Mama Likes: Advocacy, Plants, Piano, The Walking Dead, A Long Cuddle, The Spanish Language, and Making Others Feel Good About Themselves.
Mama Inspiration: My grandmother. She had seven dollars to her name when she got married and managed to raise four children (one being my beautiful mama who I also look up to), helped my grandfather build their house with their bare hands, and worked two, sometimes three, jobs while doing it all.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.” -Robin Williams.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Don’t feel pressure to read all the books about parenting. Trust your gut, you know your child.
Worst advice you’ve been given: You’re only one person.
Biggest goal for this year? Be present with my daughter. To find my way back to playing music instead of watching T.V. I also hope to learn as much as I can about social media marketing.

Name: Eva Amurri Martino

Kids Ages + Names: Marlowe (19 months)
Birthday: March 15th
About Me: Hi! I’m Eva, a retired actress (15 years later), fledgling blogger, toddler mama, and wife to my best friend. I started my company, Happily Eva After, as a kind of rebirth for myself in 2015. I had always felt deeply dissatisfied as an actress (the reasons could fill a novel) but I had long since lost the self esteem to cast aside something that wasn’t making me happy and allow myself to spread my wings in a new way.
After having my daughter, my entire world changed. Not only did I realize how much I didn’t know (hello, everything), it made me think a lot about how I wanted to raise her and the values I wanted to instill in her as a girl who would turn in to a Woman. Suddenly I noticed how disingenuous it would be to tell my daughter she could be anything she wanted in life, and yet be plugging away at a career myself that I felt was slowly sucking the creativity and confidence out of me in handfuls.
I have always loved to be creative and make beautiful things (from food to décor to DIY and beyond) but now I had become interested in how to continue to do these things as a Mom– how to encourage myself to have hobbies and interests other than just Mothering my child– AND how to do so while being as honest with myself and others as possible. After a lot of encouragement from my Husband, Happily Eva After was born! First as a hobby– then I fell in love, and now it is my full time career.
I love creating a community online that people feel like they can come to for a humorous and honest approach to parenting– as well as ideas, tips, tricks, and adventures that will spark their own creativity on their own journeys. Learning something totally new has also been extremely energizing and exciting for me! I’m grateful to my business for teaching me that it is never too late to be the person you’ve always wanted to be.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Just call me the accessible lifestyle gal! Anything I can do, you can replicate. Delicious recipes, décor and fashion ideas, easy DIY, and tons of entertaining ideas including lots of holiday inspo. I also love bringing people along on my adventures with Marlowe! (she’s the real star in the family- Ha!)
Interested In: Collaboration, sponsorship, mentorship & friendship (and hopefully some playdates).
Mama Likes: I love travel, fiction, film, amazing food, and delicious wine.
Mama Inspiration: Michelle Obama, Emily Henderson, Kate Winslet, Tory Burch, Diane Von Furstenberg.
Words you live by/quotes you love: “Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” – Eleanor Roosevelt.
“I have never met a woman who is not strong. They don’t exist.” – Diane Von Furstenberg
“Fake it ‘til you make it” – Anonymous
Best advice you’ve ever been given: “When somebody shows you who they are, believe them.” (I’m finally paying attention to this).
Worst advice you’ve been given: “If you love something, let it go.” Never do that. If you love something NEVER let it go. Marry it, tattoo it on your body, and eat it for lunch!
Biggest goal for this year? Grow my site traffic & Social media numbers!

Kids Ages + Names: Miles, 9 months
Birthday: March 22nd
About Me: I’ve always loved all aspects of art and design (architecture, interior design, graphic design, illustration, painting) but could never actually “do.” Launching Simply Framed in January of 2014 has allowed me to collaborate with so many talented artists and designers that I admire by creating affordable custom framing solutions for their clients and making it easier for everyone to surround themselves with the pieces that mean the most to them.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Creative, Business Development, Finding a way to test your business idea, and Custom Framing.
If you started your own company, tell us your #startupstory? In 2010 I spent time working for online art website 20×200 and while there helped add a custom framed option to every print sold. It was incredibly hard to find a vendor that could meet all of our needs at a great price and with good timing. At the same time, it seemed like more and more online galleries were popping up, plus sites like Etsy were growing rapidly. I had a feeling the online framing problem was not unique to 20x200, but something both collectors and artists were looking for.
Most importantly, I personally was sick of schlepping my own growing affordable art collection to the framer and always found the experience to be more confusing, more expensive and more inconvenient than the previous trip. In between, I tried some terrible DIY solution or Ikea hacks and found that process, though cheaper, netted a very bad-looking result. As I talked to friends and family, I couldn’t find anyone that actually liked to get things custom framed.
While doing the framing research for 20×200, the seed for Simply Framed started to form but I didn’t pursue the business full time until 2 years later when I saw how badly my DIY versions were looking and that no one else was trying to make custom framing easier.
Interested In: Collaborations, Mentorship, Mentoring, Playdates in Denver.
Mama Likes: Hiking, Skiing, and hosting dinner parties.
Mama Inspiration: Cheryl Sandberg, Dr. Katie Rodan and My mom, Ann Deshe.
Words you live by/quotes you love: If you had it all, where would you put it? Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Good things take time. And the most important business decision you can make is who you marry.
Worst advice you’ve been given: Your company needs to offer more frame choices.
Biggest goal for this year?Disconnect from work on the weekends.

Why do you want to be a part of heymama?: What an incredible group of women to be associated with. I have always been inspired by the creative working mama. It takes a lot to be a mom as we know, there are the daily demands of our precious littles and our homes and our families. It also takes a lot to run a successful business. It's like having another child to care and provide for. This community is strong and powerful and meant to be celebrated. It's the very inspiration behind The Great Jane.
What are your career goals?: To keep challenging myself and growing creatively. The possibilities are boundless if we allow ourselves the freedom to discover ourselves again and again.
Words you live by/quotes you love: "Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to us better than the one to come? - Rumi
Best advice you’ve ever been given?: "You do you." I've learned over the past 7 years that following my own course and listening to my gut and heart has always led to success. Getting caught up in the external presents doubt and trips up our own process. Set off on your own path and you will go far.
Name: Michelle Reeves
Lives In: Portland, Oregon
About Me: I was born to tell business stories. I can write a 5 minute pitch in under 45 minutes (gives me such a high!). I love learning about other businesses and figuring out the most compelling way to tell their story, distill everything down to one core idea or business proposition. I believe many business owners should be aware of two things: what they’re selling vs the business they’re in. Often these are two very different things.
Hire me for/I'm Good at: Strangely, the skill I’m most proud of… I manage the hours in my day like a drill sergeant manages his army – with precision and not a minute to spare. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t sit still or because there’s just so much I want to accomplish, work, fun with the kids, time with my husband, time for myself. Maybe that’s just being a mama, however I take real pride in how I can unstack the dishwasher while cooking dinner, paying bills online, dancing in the kitchen with my son, and negotiating a contract for work.
Interested In: I love to mentor and collaborate. There’s something very powerful and inspiring about creating energy together in business - all parties walk away feeling supported and motivated to charge ahead.
Mama Likes: That’s a great question and something I haven’t asked myself in a long time. Some mamas and I were talking about this very thing at The Great Jane. The idea that we could have our own interests feels like such a luxury these days. We’re so focused on building our business, nurturing our families, taking care of the household, our wants and desires were put on a shelf years ago and in the meantime, our wants and desires have changed. Honestly, I don’t know what they are. Rediscovering that part of myself might take a little time.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: June Oven (kitchens will never be the same), Juicero (game changer), MyIntent.org, Sarahs Bags, SurfAir, The Ouai, Yes Way Rose, White Girl Wine, IvyPark (taking fashion/merchandising photography to the next level), Perrin Handbags, Sun Basket/Blue Apron, WeWork, ah so many!
Words you live by/quotes you love: I have lived my life by this rule for the past 30 years. “If you want to discover new oceans, you must be prepared to lose sight of the shore”.
Best advice you’ve ever been given: “You can always make more money, you can never make more time”. My father told me this when I was 30 and going through a divorce. Stuck in the middle of a year long battle, he asked me what my goals were.
“Kids, build my company (David Family Wines), time with my friends who live so spread out across the world…”. None of those were things I was fighting for in the divorce, all of those things were already within my reach – I had the power to enjoy, build, and act on those things. Why then was I wasting so much energy and time on things I didn’t need or could replicate myself. I signed my divorce papers a week later.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: The goal as a business owner is to make money, not raise it. There’s a misconception with so many entrepreneurs that they need to go raise millions. No. Build your customer base, build your idea, build your sales. If you need money to scale, THEN go raise the $ you need and not a penny more.
ALSO - Don’t compare your life today as your hustle through work and raise your babies to the “perfect” lives of others on instagram. Behind the scenes, they’re all hustling too (but with a better hair and make up team ;).
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you?
1. I love to make new friends but I get nervous - I’m in constant search of hearing everyone’s stories, opening my friendship circle as wide as possible, but there’s this little shy kid inside me. It’s kind of like the first day of school and I get so nervous!
2. I eat chocolate every day. Like every single day. It’s usually followed by a kale, banana and basil smoothie.
3. I grew up helping my parents clean homes – we came from very humble beginnings and while other families spent the weekend or the summer on vacation, my brother and I were cleaning ovens, bathrooms, gutters, grouting tile, watering gardens. When we weren’t doing that, we were in daycare. Looking back I see now it’s what really cemented our relationship. My brother and I figured we better get along, look out for each other and have fun together during those times. So we did. To this day, we are extremely close.

Kids Ages + Names: Mackenzie Miller (4) Leighton Miller (2)
Birthday: September 27th
About Me: I am a very involved, loving, doting parent of two beautiful little girls. I have lived in NYC my entire life, and would consider myself a perfectionist, so I always over-researched and investigated businesses to find the best. My motto is “Family First” and it is because of this, that I came up with a way to work with my sister everyday, despite us both having our own separate responsibilities. For as long as I can remember, I have been the go-to person when my friends needed any advice. When my sister became pregnant, she too, had many curiosities and questions. I then came to the realization that there was a real demand for a Mom’s self-help guide. Mothers needed to know where to get their hair done in a hurry, what was the best space for yoga and meditation, where to find the best fitness for their body, how to decorate their nursery, where to shop for the cutest kid’s clothes, and the list goes on. I wanted to provide an honest and reliable source for Moms, who did not have the time or energy to go through the trial and error. In one click on our site, they had their information, and their lives were made easier. I compiled my very extensive list with my sister as we rode back on a plane from her pregnant bachelorette party. The idea was born, and the rest is history-in-the-making.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Researching and investigating, Creative ideas, Writing, Teaching, Event planning.
If you started your own company, tell us your #startupstory? My sister and I decided to go into business, as a way of spending more time together, despite our busy lives. We wanted to utilize our skills, Jenna coming from a law and marketing background, and me, a fundraiser and learning specialist. Jenna was newly pregnant and I had two little girls of my own, so we needed to find a way to work from home, and make sure we made ample time for our little ones. Jenna and other family/friends had always inquired about topics like beauty, style, well-being, decor, and kid-friendly activities, so I found myself an important and credible resource. Since being born and raised in NYC, and living in various neighborhoods, Jenna and I could be referred to as experts. We had a vision, of sharing our information through our daily lives, to help other women, and especially Moms, utilize all of our valuable secret spots! We hoped that women would be able to maintain themselves and carve out “me” time, crucial to being the best parent, wife, and human. Everyone needs to spend time on themselves in order to benefit those around them. After many meeting with our web designer, interviewing various affordable photographers, designing a logo on 99 designs, and creating lists upon lists of NYC info, we were up and running, and nothing was stopping us. I began writing, making calls to various NYC businesses to schedule shoots and interviews, assisted in some PR, and controlled our Instagram account. Jenna set up our trademark and LLC, edited my writing, and formatted/uploaded all of our content. The truth is, we had an idea, and we didn't fear any part of the process. We had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. We never looked back, we only charged ahead! We are a sister team that worked, and we are having a blast doing what we love, benefiting Mamas.
Interested In: We are interested in sponsorships and collaborations.
Mama Likes: Anything involving my children, Tracy Anderson, Paddle Boarding, Traveling abroad, Hosting events, Fundraising
Mama Inspiration: My Mama, Cathy Levy! My Nana, Lucille Makstein, Diane Von Furstenberg, My dear friends, Ali Kay, Aly Gradone, Marcella Guarino and Lesley Vecsler, Rachel Zoe, Christy Turlington Burns
Words you live by/quotes you love: Family First. Family is Everything. Live from love, not from fear.
“Being your true self is the most effective formula for success there is”
“Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn.”
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Always stay true to yourself, and stick to your instincts (My Mom).
Worst advice you’ve been given: I don’t listen to bad advice ;)
Biggest goal for this year? To enjoy my free time with my husband and children. To collaborate and gain sponsorships that are organic and authentic to what we are doing at Mama & Tata. To watch our beautiful idea blossom into a functioning, successful company.

What is your biggest goal for this year? To grow my network of creative entrepreneur friends and foster connections among like-minded brands in my circle
Name: Jenna Crespi
Lives In: New York City
Kids Ages + Names: pregnant and due Oct 1, 2016
Birthday: June 4
About Me: I was an attorney (graduated from Cardozo in 2010) and then worked at Gilt City for over 2 years to expand their NYC business and improve their guide and marketing platform. I have always been a researcher and when I became pregnant, my curiosities peaked when it came to the topic of motherhood. My sister has always been my go-to person for advice, so when I started to ask my endless list of questions, we realized there needed to be a platform for women who have these same questions and are in need of sisterly advice. I was curious about nursing, baby products, early childhood education and development, and the list goes on. I wanted to share our findings, so other women have a resource and trusted guide to feel their best while developing that same profound appreciation of family that we have always felt.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I am an avid and thorough researcher, writer, and explorer. I am diligent in everything I do and love meeting and working with new people. I also have experience in marketing and sales through developing partnership ideas (for Gilt City and Mama & Tata).
If you started your own company, tell us your #startupstory? See answer above
Interested In: Collaborations, sponsorships, inspirational interviews and meetings (and always new friends!).
Mama Likes: I love fitness, especially dance cardio, private training and yoga. I am a huge foodie, cooking classes and trying new foods is a big part of my life. My third passion is travel and exploring new places and cultures.
Mama Inspiration: My mom and sister always come to mind first, Daphne Oz, Christy Turlington Burns, and Ivanka Trump.
Words you live by/quotes you love: 1. family is everything 2. What you think, you create, what you feel, you attract, what you imagine you become 3. Just go for it! 4. Be authentic to who you are
Best advice you’ve ever been given: The best advice I have ever received is from my mom and is to always have confidence, that worrying about things out of your control is useless, and exude the energy you want to attract. My mom is a working mom, a full time psychotherapist and has been the most influential person in my life. It has been especially helpful in pregnancy, where it’s easy to worry. I realize how important it is for your baby and yourself to be calm and confident and put out that type of energy in all aspects of your life. Positivity and confidence breed success and creativity, whereas negative or nervous energy can only be debilitating.
Worst advice you’ve been given: At a time where I was at a crossroads in my career, in terms of going for jobs with highest paycheck vs. jobs that related to my passion and happiness, I would say worst advice was to choose your career solely for money.
Biggest goal for this year? To grow brand and following to 100,000k and email subscriptions, and hopefully eventually expand to other markets/cities.

About Me: I became a mother in the midst of a full acting and modeling career, which forced me to slow down and take it all in. I realized how inspired I was by motherhood and how much I truly wanted to create a voice for all moms, but especially moms that resembled me. While acting is still my passion, I love being part of the "mommy club", which led me to create my lifestyle and parenting website, ElizabethMxo.com. I'm excited to build a platform where I strive to share advice, keep it real, and hopefully inspire fellow mamas with a glimpse into my life.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: Public speaking, content collaboration, mom inspired freelance writing, acting and modeling.
Interested In: Collaborations, features, networking, speaking opportunities, sponsorship for media endeavors, developing products, film/tv, and modeling opportunities.
Mama Likes: I love to pretend I am a gourmet chef (prepare meals for my family and friends and take cooking classes); I enjoy movie nights with my hubby and I am a huge fan of anything spa related!
Mama Inspiration: My mommy, hands down; she was a single mother of three who never stopped! I am also inspired by fellow mamas Jessica Alba, Tyra Banks, Ayesha Curry and Holly Robinson Pete, who make work and motherhood look flawless.

Best advice you'd give to someone starting out: Find what drives you, what you love, and ask questions!
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I grew up a major tomboy but went to an all girls high school, I never stay in the bathroom while brushing my teeth, I secretly love children's books.

Lives In: Seattle, WA
Birthday: August 28th
Kids Names and Birthdays: Expecting a baby girl October 2
About Me: I'm a yoga and meditation instructor, passionate about living - and helping others live - with more space, freedom and ease. I love adventure, travel, collaboration, big thinking and even bigger dreaming. I am a Canadian Native and early in my career I moved to NYC to pursue my big city dreams and work with the United Nations. Jaunts abroad led me to live in London and soon after, New Zealand. After returning to New York my yoga practice deepened and I became an instructor, leading group classes, working privately with clients and leading luxury wellness retreats. While NYC will always have my heart, I have recently relocated to Seattle, where immersing myself in the West Coast vibe has given new meaning to living with more space, freedom and ease :)
What are your skills?: PR, Writing
Other skills: Yoga instructor, reiki healer, health coach
Interested in: Collaboration, Mentor-ship, Friendship, Playdates
Other interests: Yoga, meditation, travel, collaboration
Why do you want to be a part of heymama?: I think that community is SO important. It inspires me, it lifts me up, it keeps me connected, motivated and happy. Some of the most amazing women have come into my life as a result of communities like this one, and I'm constantly searching for new, inspiring ways to connect. It took me a long time to decide to be a mama. There was always a piece of me that was worried I'd lose myself, that I would no longer be able to fulfill my own dreams. Since I have been pregnant, I've realized how many amazing, badass mamas there are out there, doing incredible things, living their dreams, and doing it beautifully while raising their little ones at the same time. I know that being a parent will be hard. But I also believe it will be rewarding and fun, and having other women to draw inspiration from will, I'm sure, help me tremendously through both the highs and lows. And I hope that I'll also be able to support other mamas along the way. I'm new to Seattle without much of a network here, which makes an online community even more important.
What are your career goals?: I adore teaching yoga, meditation and retreats, and I plan to continue and grow that aspect of my business on the west coast. I also have some big plans for a company that would allow me to combine my experience with gender equality, empowerment and international development (from my UN days) with the the healing practices of yoga and meditation.

Kids Names and Ages: Olivia 2 years old and
Eliora 9 months
About Me: My name is Lynzy and I am the editor behind the life and style blog, Lynzy & Co. It largely focuses on motherhood (from breastfeeding to style) and overall, it's just a place where moms can go to feel supported and ask questions (I also have a Facebook motherhood group as well). I have two daughters, Olivia and Eliora and we plan to travel to at least one other country per year so that our children can experience other cultures. My husband and I both also work in the medical field. He is an ER doctor in the inner city and I am a PA in the ER in an inner city. Life can get a bit crazy, but we really love it. I try to embrace all the aspects of motherhood and pause in the simple moments that makes this job (the most important) and most wonderful of all.
What are your skills?: Photography, Writing
Interested in: Collaboration, Sponsorship, Friendship, Playdates
Why do you want to be a part of heymama?: This seems like such an amazing community to be a part of and I would love to be a part of it and also contribute.
What are your career goals?: To show other mothers how beautiful motherhood can be and also to grow a support system for moms.
Words you live by/quotes you love: "Her heart was wild, but I didn't want to catch it. I wanted to run with it, to set mine free." - Atticus
"Because I could watch you for a single minute and find a thousand things I love about you."

Name: Maureen Vazquez
Title: Founder, Creative Director
Lives in: San Luis Obispo, CA
How many kids? Ages?: Atticus, 6, Eleanor, 5, Ike, 3, Indiana, 1
About Me: I'm a mom to four little kids, who has lived in the world's greatest cities and took a sabbatical from urban life to run a subscription sticker club, Pipsticks. Though I desperately miss the energy, diversity and people of NYC and London, I'm now able to focus on motherhood and business without having to also find socks for six of us to wear every day (which literally almost put me over the edge). I am a graphic designer and created my dream job - I now run a great little studio with fun people, and I get to open massive boxes filled with stickers on a regular basis (I totally would have peed my pants if you had told me this would be my job when I was 8 years old).
What are your skills?: Marketing, Advertising, Photography, Writing
What is your education?: I studied art and design at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA
Interested in: Business, Collaboration, Sponsorship, Mentorship
Other interests: I have a lot of them, though unfortunately I don't have a chance to DO many of them these days: Cooking, eating, crafting, travel, entertaining, yoga, bridge
Why do you want to be a part of heymama?: I've had the luxury of living most of my adulthood in amazing cities: San Francisco, New York, London. I've recently moved to a small town on the central coast of California and am really missing the access I had to other fast paced, driven women. I'm excited about the opportunity to connect with other women like me around the world.
What are your brand goals for this year?: We've been able to reach adult sticker lovers quite easily, but have found moms to be a tougher market. I'll be dedicating more resources to making Pipsticks something that moms are sharing with one another as their saving grace when it comes to kids subscriptions and gifts. PR is also on our list of to-dos with hopes of getting press from parenting media.
Words you live by/quotes you love: You be you.
Best advice you’ve ever been given?: My mom always said "you can do everything, just not all at once". Every time I'm frustrated by the numbers of hours in a day, I think of this. Oh, and "always say please and thank you."
