Lives In: San Diego, California
About Me: I own an all natural children’s bath company. My husband and I have always owned a business together, and we have always dreamt of having our own line of products. We started making Tubby Todd soap to take care of our little ones. It took us a few years to work on the formulas, but we knew we wanted it to be something that would work for our family before we would feel comfortable sharing it with others. Professionally I have worked for companies doing social media consulting, and two years ago, I published my first book, “Tell Me About It, Sister! A guide for returned sister missionaries.” It’s a guide for Latter-day Saint women to help them adjust home after missionary service.
Hire Me For/I'm Good At: I like to talk. Put me in a room with people and by the end of the night I will know all of their names and know everything about them. Mainly because I will interrogate them until they tell me all of the details. I will then remember these facts forever. I sincerely am not that good at that many other things. But I am really good at networking.
Interested In: I love working with women who run lifestyle blogs, Instagram accounts, Pinterest feeds, etc. We are always looking for honest reviews of how our product works for their family. Their reviews are the most valuable way to share our product! I am also interested in working with brands to collaborate for events, giveaways, and to help share the news about one another's product.
Mama Likes: I love to write! It helps me relax and process my feelings. I have written a lot professionally, but more recently, I write to relieve stress and work through feelings. I really love to run. I love to go on trips with my family; I feel like close, simple trips with little ones are the best for us right now with all we have going on: an overnighter to a hotel or a trip to Disneyland for the day.
Mama Inspiration: I am so inspired by the women I see out and about at the park and at the store. When I see a mom running around, playing with her kids instead of looking at her phone, I feel like I can be better, do more, and be a more committed mom. I am also really inspired by the women closest to me. Elle from @sollybaby, Lauren from @humblehilo, Melanie from @melanieburk, Alison (my sister) from @thealisonshow are my closest friends and women I look up to. They put their families first but are geniuses. They know the business world back and forth, but they haven’t lost the kindness and gentleness of a mother’s love in trying to move their career forward.
Brands that most reflect your style or that you’d want to work with: This year moving into retail, we are looking forward to finding boutiques and retail establishments that are excited to carry our products on their shelves. We are excited to partner with all sizes of retail shops. We love the creativity of The Land of Nod and the reliability and cleanliness of Nordstrom’s. We look forward to meeting more women and men who have online sites to share our product with!
Words you live by/quotes you love: John 13:34 “Love one another.”
Best advice you’ve ever been given: Don’t worry about what other brands or companies are doing, just worry about working on yourself, your business, and pushing forward in what is the next step for you.
Best advice you’d give to someone starting out: Play to your strengths. There are a million ways to start a business and market a product. It is so incredible to have the Internet and so many marketing platforms to reach a customer base. I think it is so fun to watch people find their own unique way of marketing. Whether that is telling their story online through their Instagram account, or through their email newsletters, there are a million ways to do it; all you have to do is find the best way to reach your market for you.
What are three things people would be surprised to know about you? I don’t know if there is anything that surprising about me! I have a tendency to divulge everything within the first five minutes. I want six kids. I’m not joking; I want six. I don’t know if I’m going to get them, but ,man, I sure do want them all. I speak Spanish. I studied it in college because I wanted to marry a Latin guy, but I married a gringo, and I really like him too. Decorating my house gives me anxiety. I feel like it is some huge declaration of my personal values, and I go into a complete life crises every time I attempt to add a new throw pillow. I know. I’m losing it
